Lambda's charter was installed at Wayne State University College of Nursing on June 12, 1953.  It is the tenth oldest of more than 490 Sigma Theta Tau chapters and the oldest chapter in the State of Michigan.  Founded in 1922 by six nurses at the Indiana University Training School, Sigma Theta Tau is the official Honor Society of Nursing and is now an international organization with the mission of advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.  This site provides you with an even greater ability to network with chapter members, upload photos, share documents, participate in chapter discussions and learn about chapter events.

Now more than ever the healthcare industry demands qualified, educated nursing professionals ready to adapt to continued technological advances and health care reform. More importantly, a need exists for collaborative, compassionate nurses, nurse leaders, and administrators dedicated to providing transformational, whole-person care in hospitals, schools, and other healthcare organizations. This is why we are asking everyone to contact at least one person, and ask them to reach out to Sigma Theta Tau and apply to become a new member. Our health care system is going to need all the talented leaders for the future.
