  • Alpha Alpha Induction 2016

    Many thanks to Palani Mohan, father of one of our inductees, for creating this video collage of our induction ceremony on Sunday, April 10. Enjoy!

  • Service Learning Opportunities

    • February: (collection of vitamins, over the counter meds, children’s school book bags and $$) http://nursing.unc.edu/son-news/attention-students-interprofessional-elective-course-available-spring-2016/
    Our Nursing Service Learning course 609.001 will be working locally on improving migrant Latino health and also in Nicaragua over spring break (March 11-21). In Nicaragua we will be doing children health screenings at Casa Bernabe Orphanage along with outreaches to poor under resourced clinics such as the Clinica Neuva Vida that provides health care to families www.jhc-cdca.org. We are asking for donations of large bottles of prenatal vitamins, children’s vitamins, Tylenol, ibuprofen, tums, antifungal ointment and new or used children’s school book bags.

    Collection box sites = Association of Nursing Students will have a box with a sign in the lobby of Old Carrington. Boxes are also at Jean Davison’s office (room 535) and a box in the Office of Academic Affairs.

    PROJECT CONNECT - ORANGE COUNTY
    TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2016 at 9 AM TO 3 PM
    HARGRAVES COMMUNITY CENTER, CHAPEL HILL, NC
    Project Connect is a one-day, one-stop center that connects people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness with a broad range of short and long-term services. These include housing, employment, health and dental care, mental health care, veterans’ and social service benefits, legal services, and more. Health care volunteers are needed with set up at 8:00am, services to homeless 9:00am to 3:00pm. You can volunteer all day or in shifts (8- noon) (11:30 to 3:30)

    Congrats to Alpha Alpha Chapter for receiving certificates of excellence from STTI for our servant leadership, connectedness, gratitude, and transformation!

  • Call to serve!

    As part of her call to action, President Hester C. Klopper has invited all honor society members to complete 90 minutes of selfless service on the week of 5 October in honor of Sigma Theta Tau International's Founders Day.

    Congrats to our president, Dr. Eric Hodges and his team. Our chapter was awarded a Showcase of Regional Excellence distinction!

    Chapter elections are fast approaching. This year's openings are for vice-president/president-elect, secretary, student counselor, and communications director.

    AND please save the date and join us for the annual fall membership meeting. This year Alpha Alpha and WakeMed are co-sponsoring dinner with Tiffany Christensen who will present "Partnering with Patients." Nurses will earn 1contact hour (CEU) for attending. More information available at:
