Bio

My previous work experience includes 15 years with Texas Health Resources at Harris Methodist Fort Worth in Women’s Services and Education and the Harris Health Plan, where I was a Director of HMO services. Other clinicaI experiences include; Manager and developer of the Women’s and Infants Outpatient Center at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, a health care consultant for hospitals and more recently was co-owner of a health management company in Fort Worth, Texas. I am currently an Associate Professor of Nursing at the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences and have been teaching at TCU since 2004.

I have served as Director of Texas Nurses Association, District 3 and am the President-elect of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International ( 2009-2011).

Areas of interest: Research – Cardiac disease with an emphasis on Hispanic women, women's health; history of nursing; political and social implications of health care delivery.

Personal: married 35 years to Michael Sherrod, two sons, Colin (an attorney) and Nicholas (who is a nursing student at TCU), two dogs and four birds. I also have a daughter-in-law, Heather (who is a 2nd year law student) and a son-in-law, Joshua (who is working on his master's degree in Education).
