Alpha Chapter celebrated its 90th Anniversary November 16th at STTI headquarters. Past STTI president Angela Barron McBride provided inspiration remarks on the history of Alpha Chapter and STTI focusing on “Membership, now what?” which dovetailed nicely with current President Prevost’s call to action “Give Back to Move Forward”. Dr. McBride spoke of the many ‘firsts’ of STTI: first U.S. organization to fund nursing research, first nursing organization with a strategic plan, first nursing organization to have a headquarters of its own. She left the attendees with a call to ‘Move your own dream forward and you never know how many other dreams you will set in motion” and charged them with ‘”What can you accomplish between now and the STTI centennial?” Members in attendance then provided reflections on what STTI has meant to them. Tours of the facility and the Founders’ Room in particular were provided by past Alpha Chapter President and current archivist Marjorie Kurt.
